SU Alumni Successes

Orlanda Szabo (ProSeries 19) has been hired to adapt the Terry R. Brooks novel FATHER ROCK, a rock ‘n roll sci fi into a screenplay.   She is being paid up front and credited with “screenplay/adaptation by.”  This is Orlanda’s third paid writing assignment.  You can see her website here.  You’re flying, Orlanda.  Keep at it.  

Clark Ransom (ProSeries 20) had his dramedy script, THE IMPOSTERS, optioned by Canadian producer Christopher Cinnamon.  Great job, Clark!  The first of many to come.

Karen Mueller Bryson (ProSeries 21) has acquired the story rights to Amy Arnold’s story.  Amy is a former professional women’s football player, who led a ragtag first-year boy’s football team to the prep school league championship game in Arizona. Karen also won a $5000 scholarship to Writer’s Boot Camp.  Congratulations on both, Karen. 

Jeannette Wolfe (ProSeries 20) had her Sci Fi screenplay “Quantum Shift” optioned by Producer Corey Lomax with Psych Ward Productions.  They are currently preping for production, which is set for Summer 2010.   Congratulations to Jeannette!

Amanda Costa (ProSeries 24) has acquired the rights to the book “Around the World on Two Wheels” with the deal put together by her attorney at Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.   It is the story of Annie Londonderry, the first woman to go around the world on a bicycle.  Amanda is writing the screenplay titled “An Extraordinary Ride” and will be shopping

Kirk Weddell (Pro Series 23) is set to produce “Storage”. Along with his co producer Mark Shields , they have optioned the rights to the horror screenplay written by Matt Winn and Chris Denne. Lynn Dickinson (ProSeries 18) just signed another “work for hire” agreement with Russ Pond at Top Pup Media.  She’s being paid to write the story beats and outline of a kid’s action script based on Pond’s original idea. Congratulations to Kevin Lee Miller (ProSeries17) on winning one of the Grand Prizes of the Final Draft Big Break Contest! It is one of the bigger contests (3,000 screenwriters), so this is quite an accomplishment. Great job, Kevin!
