Screenwriter Kevin Lee Miller (ProSeries 17) had his action/comedy screenplay, “Happy Mother’s Day,” optioned by Producer Harry Gittes. The script is the story of an honest Chicago cop who battles to protect three mob witnesses from competing hit men only to discover the most ruthless assassin on his trail is…his own mother.
Gittes is best know for producing Alexander Payne’s “About Schmidt,” starring Jack Nicholson, and the coming-of-age comedy “The Girl Next Door” starring Elisha Cuthbert, Emile Hirsch and Paul Dano.
“Happy Mother’s Day” is one of this year’s Nicholl Fellowship semifinalists and a finalist in the Austin Film Festival.
